FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How do I reset my tracker?

lf your tracker is not responding, it may be fixed by restarting.

Open the battery door using the battery door tool and remove the battery. Wait 10 seconds. Place the battery back into the tracker with the + side facing up, and close the door. Your Zip will now be reset. You will see your tracker’s version number, followed by a series of Fitbit Smilies. When you tap your tracker, you should be able to navigate through the screens as you normally would.

How do I reinstall the battery?

Your Zip’s display is powered by a 3V coin battery, CR 2025. If your Zip won’t turn on, it may be due to a drained or misaligned battery.

To reinstall the battery in your Zip: Insert the battery door tool into the rear door slot of your Zip and turn it counter-clockwise to unlock the battery door. Remove the door and battery. Reinsert your battery with the positive (+) end facing up, and replace the battery door. Insert the battery tool and turn clockwise to lock the battery door. The door should be flush with the rear of the tracker.

What can this gadget do for me that a simple (and way less expensive!) pedometer and a free fitness app for my iPhone can't...?Back to product

  1. I had a pedometer, and it was great- it helped me to get in the habit of doing 10K steps/day. It didn't compare to the Fitbit, though. The Fitbit is smaller, for one. It tracks calories more accurately- and actually tracks all day long, instead of just what you burn from exercise. My other pedometers only tracked what I burned from walking. I love how this syncs to my Fitbit app, and also to my FitnessPal app. I've lost 15 pounds in 2 months by doing this instead of my old pedometers. Also, my husband has used 3 different pedometer apps for his phone, and none are very accurate at ALL. You CAN use another pedometer or a fitness app on your phone. I just prefer the accuracy of the Fitbit for when it really counts.
